Cad & Tart Group Gift and Relay for Life

Yesterday I blogged a new release, the Inseparable necklace and earrings in silver.  Today I decided to make available my own personal version of the set, which is in gold.  This is a group gift for members of the Cad & Tart  HippoGROUP in world.  If you would like the gift and are not in the group, you can join it at the main Cad & Tart store or at Cad & Tart Copley Square.  Once you’re in the group, just hit messages, and you’ll be able to pick up the gift from the first message.

I generally send group gifts once every three to four months.  However, I’m going to try an experiment.  There are Relay for Life kiosks in both of the stores listed above.  If those two kiosks reach a combined total of L$5,000 by May 1st –  I will send out group gifts at least once a month for the next year.  If they hit a combined total of L$20,000, I will send out group gifts at least every two weeks for the next year.

Relay for Life is important to me.  When I was thirty-one years old, I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer.  That’s some scary crap.  The long term survival rate is very low.  In fact, only 20% of patients diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer live for five years after the diagnosis.

For the record, I will turn forty in a couple of months. I’ve beaten the odds.   While some readers may think I am just too ornery to die (and there is some truth to that), I’m living proof that cancer research must continue.  Breast cancer and all cancers, for that matter, can go from being fatal, dreaded diseases to being just another common ailment.

But right now, cancer is still a dreadful and terrifying word.  Cancer. CANCER.  And the real bitch of it is this:  once you get over the shock and muddle through the first days of terror, you are faced with long, grueling treatments that are horrible and humiliating in and of themselves.

Surgery.  Radiation. Chemotherapy.  Just syllables, random words on a page.  Until they happen to you.

Cancer will affect every single person on earth if we don’t find new treatments and cures. If you’re not diagnosed, a loved one will be.  You or yours will become a statistic, just like me.  I wish better for you and yours.

Research is the key.  Relay for Life funds cancer research.  Show a little Linden love to the Relay for Life kiosks.  Do something for yourselves, do something for your loved ones.  You will be rewarded in more ways than one.

Tomorrow I will release two new products into Relay for Life vendors.

Thank you for your help.

oxxxo,

Kat
